History of FITA Archers of Pennsylvania
WE are all the archers residing in Pennsylvania. While “grass roots development” is an often used term in many sports, it is the key to the long-term success and growth of Archery. We play the key role to grow all disciplines of the sport of Archery.
FITA Archers of Pennsylvania was granted a charter in 1996 by USA Archery (USAA), formerly the National Archery Association (NAA), as the governing body of archery for the State of Pennsylvania. The charter was granted for the purpose of fostering and promoting the mission of USAA, the National Governing Body for the sport of archery. The State Association is devoted to the development of archery, in all disciplines, as a means of healthful recreation and physical fitness and to the maintenance of high standards of fair play and good sportsmanship.
The Association’s purpose is to encourage, sanction and conduct archery tournaments, competitions, clinics, and related activities through member clubs, open to all athletes and other without regard to race, creed, color or national origin and under the best conditions possible so as to effectively promote the sport of archery with the general public. It is understood that the State Archery Association will abide by the Constitution and Rules of USAA and World Archery as pertains to competitions under USAA and World Archery jurisdiction and by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Code as pertains to competitions under the IOC jurisdiction.
